Your day, step by step

1. Hotel pick-up. Pick-up at your hotel door very early in the morning, around 5:00 to 7:00 AM depending on location. Comfortable bus or A/C van transport to Chiquilá, the boarding port.
2. Box lunch on the road. During the journey enjoy box lunch with juice, sandwich, fruit and cookie. Approximately 2 to 3 hours of road to Chiquilá.
3. Boat crossing to Holbox. Arrival at Chiquilá port. Board fast boat for the crossing to Holbox Island, approximately 30 minutes over the calm waters of Yalahau lagoon. Enjoy the wind, sea breeze and first views of the island.
4. Yalahau Cenote. Visit Yalahau cenote, a freshwater spring surrounded by mangroves discovered by the ancient Maya. Crystal-clear refreshing waters ideal for swimming. Life vests included. It has a small panoramic tower where you can see the mangrove tops and the silhouette of Holbox in the distance.
5. Pasion Island. Boat visit to Pasion Island, a small islet within the Yum Balam Reserve declared a bird sanctuary. Crystal-clear turquoise waters, virgin white beach and possibility to see pelicans, herons, frigate birds and with luck pink flamingos depending on the season.
6. Mosquito Point. Continue to Mosquito Point, one of the most impressive sandbanks of the Mexican Caribbean. The water here is so shallow and crystal-clear that you can walk into the sea for hundreds of meters. Ideal place for minimalist photos and unforgettable memories.
7. Lunch and free time in Holbox. Arrive at the town of Holbox. Choice of meal between grilled fish, garlic fish, breaded fish, spicy fish, butter fish or chicken milanese. Then 2 hours of free time in town to discover the famous street murals, bohemian cafes, local shops and unique island atmosphere.
8. Return. Boat crossing back from Holbox to Chiquilá. Transport back to your hotel. Approximate arrival between 9:00 and 11:00 PM depending on departure point.

• Mosquito Point is a sandbank that forms at the eastern tip of Holbox; the wind can modify its shape and it is sometimes substituted by Punta Cocos
• Possibility to see pink flamingos mainly from May to September; sightings are not guaranteed
• On Holbox island cars do not circulate: transport is on foot, by bicycle or golf cart
• Only biodegradable or reef-safe sunscreen allowed at the cenote and sandbanks, Yum Balam Reserve regulation
• The distances make for a long day (14-16 hours total); consider if traveling with very small minors or older people
